About Songwriters Sound-Off @ HOB

In the year since it began, the Monday night Songwriter's Sound-off at the Back Porch Restaurant, located at the House of Blues in Chicago, has developed a strong following with many loyal supporters.

Each week, Chicago's resident songwriter Thomas Pace, plays host as a handful of the finest local tunesmiths share the stage while also sharing their songs and stories in an intimate acoustic setting.

"I think the "songwriter-in-the-round" format allows for a better interaction between the artist and the audience." Says Pace, "The personality of the songwriter is more exposed. The people watching and listening pick-up on that and seem to react quite positively to it."

More familiar to places like Nashville and Austin, the "songwriter-in-the-round" arrangement is a rarity in a city like Chicago where hard-rock and the blues still reign supreme. This may help explain the immediate success of the Songwriter's Sound-off.

"People are beginning to realize how many great singer/songwriters we have here in Chicago," Pace says. "Week in and week, out you just would believe the quality of the songs you hear on this stage."

In the short time since it's inception, the Monday night Songwriter's Sound-Off at the Back Porch Restaurant has become a special gem in the Chicago music scene, and is just another one of the many ways to enjoy yourself at the House of Blues.
